People may not immediately associate Las Vegas with beer, but our city is becoming a mighty contender in the national craft brewing scene. A number of innovative craft breweries have been established around Las Vegas, such as the ones listed in our roundup of local brewery tours.

Local events, such as the annual Downtown Brew Festival held each fall and the Great Vegas Festival of Beer held every spring, celebrate craft beer brewed in Las Vegas and elsewhere. But between those festivals, Las Vegas offers plenty of excellent spots to sample all kinds of craft brews—and many of them are in close proximity to Sky!

Here are five of our favorite places to check out:

1. Atomic Liquors

Founded in 1952, Atomic Liquors is Las Vegas’ oldest free-standing bar and received the very first liquor store license ever issued by the city! This legendary liquor store, located just off the Strip at 917 Fremont Street, carries a wide variety of alcoholic beverages, including many craft beers. In recent years, Atomic Liquors has established its own craft beer festival, Atomic City Brews, and the selection of craft beers available at the bar changes consistently to feature the best selections from around the world.

2. Banger Brewing

Looking for craft beers with exciting and unusual flavors? Look no further than Banger Brewing, located along the Strip at 450 Fremont Street, less than three miles north of Sky. This local brewery makes more than two dozen craft beer varieties in-house using fresh ingredients, including flavors such as a seasonal watermelon wheat beer for summer, a blueberry rhubarb sour, and a jalapeno hefeweizen. In addition to the house beers, the bar carries a variety of other unique craft brews. Brewery tours are held daily, culminating in the enjoyment of a flight of four of Banger’s signature beers.

3. Big Dog’s Brewing Company

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2018, Big Dog’s Brewing Company lays claim to the title of Las Vegas’ original brewery. Today it consists of two parts: the craft brewery now known as Big Dog’s Brewing Company, and the brewpub called Big Dog’s Draft House, which specializes in midwestern-style bar food. Located in northwest Las Vegas, the brewery produces a variety of craft beers with dog-themed names like Tailwagger Wheat, Dirty Dog IPA, Black Lab Stout, and Red Hydrant Brown Ale. These can be found on draft at the Draft House along with many other craft beers from local and more distant brewers, as well as Big Dog’s non-alcoholic root beer.

4. Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery

Ellis Island Hotel, Casino & Brewery is located at 4178 Koval Lane, one block east of the Strip and just two miles south of Sky. Ellis Island’s brewery specializes in making exceptional versions of traditional beer varieties including amber ale, effervescent Weiss, citrusy IPA, stout, flavorful light beer, non-alcoholic root beer, and seasonal specialties. The hotel complex also houses four restaurants — Village Pub & Café, Ellis Island BBQ, Metro Pizza, and Julio’s Tacos  — where you can pair your craft beer selection with a tasty meal.

5. Hop Nuts Brewing

Take a quick mile-and-a-half jaunt south of Sky to Hop Nuts Brewing at 1120 S. Main Street, in Las Vegas’ 18b Arts district. The tap room features a full bar with a spotlight on 20 draft beers available at any given time: 15 Hop Nuts’ house brews and five guest beers from other craft breweries. Try a seasonal brew or one of the house specialties available year-round like 18b Pale Ale, citrusy Belgian Wit, chocolatey Harry Porter, or the adventurous Green Mamba Double IPA.

Ready to relax and experience delicious craft beer? You don’t have to stray very far from Sky to satisfy your cravings! Beyond convenience to the Strip, come explore all we have to offer at Sky Condos.
