Forget the all-you-can-eat buffets and the yard-long drinks — Las Vegas is a regular smorgasbord of exquisite dishes, innovative confections, and exciting eateries.
Some of the most talented chefs in the world find themselves called to the city of neon lights. The desert sends up a siren song to the culinary-minded, and Las Vegans reap the benefits. New restaurants have been showing up in droves, with the North Strip seeing notable growth.
Here are five of the newest hotspots in Las Vegas that are creating a buzz and adding to waistlines already. The best part is they are all within a short distance of our luxury community at Sky Condos.
3708 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89109
Blue Ribbon in The Cosmopolitan underwent a total revamp before its grand re-opening in June 2017. The brainchild of a pair of New York chefs, the restaurant is modeled after the SoHo location of the same name. Part saloon, part oyster bar, yet home to a famous plate of fried chicken and mashed potatoes, Blue Ribbon is sure to win you over.
3355 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89109
Chica at the Venetian opened in May 2017. Despite its location in a famously Italy-themed casino, Chica’s name clues you in on its appeal: it’s a Latin eatery that finds its inspiration in the flavors of countries such as Venezuela and Argentina. The delightful blend of food, wine, and warm atmosphere will lull you into a delicious state somewhere between “could go for a siesta” and “ready to salsa.” Fusion dishes include Mac con Queso with Peruvian corn, spinach, and so much cheese.
330 S. Rampart Blvd. #160, Las Vegas, NV 89145
When Canter’s Deli left Vegas in 2012, many locals shed a tear wondering if it would ever return. Maybe you were one of them. Either way, the new location in Tivoli Village opened in September 2017, and it recreates the mural from the original location. The eatery could easily be called Carb City, given its overwhelming gluten fetish and abundance of New York bagels, babka cake, and black-and-white cookies. Some of your other favorites may soon include the pastrami eggs benedict and brioche French toast.
The Dapper Doughnut
3799 S. Las Vegas Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89109
Located in The Underground at MGM Grand and open since late summer 2017, The Dapper Doughnut is ever so strategically located across from the casino’s comedy club. Some may say this doesn’t classify as a restaurant, but we say it still deserves a spot on this list. The eatery’s tiny, cake-like doughnuts are delightfully small and can fit around a straw. Take several dozen to go for under $30 and the entire family can munch on them for days. Options include Nutella Dream or the cleverly titled Cinn City doughnuts, doughnut milkshakes, and chocolate covered doughnut truffles.
Chuchote Thai Bistro & Desserts
4105 W. Sahara Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89102
It’s all in the family at this sibling-owned restaurant near the north end of the Strip. Opened in late July 2017, the menu here has everything from pan-fried noodles, khua kling, and savory curry. The food here is inspired by Southern Thailand, which means that most dishes have a kick to them. Sweeten your palate by sipping on a Thai iced tea. The dessert menu will have you spoiled for choice, with shaved ice and sweet dumplings among your options.
New places to make your taste buds dance are constantly cropping up around Las Vegas. The major players make a home at the casinos, but don’t sleep on the small restaurants just off the Strip.
